I recently purchased Makeup Forever's bestselling Ultra HD Foundation from Sephora after hearing rave reviews. Makeup Forever describes it as a 'HD foundation with an ultra-lightweight texture that provides ultra flawless skin'. After being colour matched instore at Sephora in Sydney to shade Y225 Marble, which was an absolute perfect colour match for my winter skin, I ordered it online a few weeks later. Makeup Forever offers one of the most extensive colour ranges of foundation, so there's a good chance there's a shade which will match you.
I'll start with the packaging. The bottle is a clear plastic. I appreciate this for several reasons; firstly, you can see the true colour of the foundation at purchase, and secondly it's sturdy, and won't smash upon impact. In other terms, Emily proof, and travel friendly. This foundation accompanied me to Europe, and I had the piece of mind it wouldn't smash or crack and ruin my other items. It has a plastic pump, of which dispenses your usual amount of product. The cap clicks atop the bottle as to ensure foundation cannot be accidentally pumped out whilst in your makeup bag.
The formula of this foundation is one of my favourite to date. It gives what I would describe as a satin, natural finish, whilst still giving a real life photoshop finish to the skin. I put the formula to the ultimate test; a holiday! After finishing the entire bottle, I can say it certainly lives up to these expectations. The lasting power is good (6-8 hours), although not great, but it doesn't advertise itself as a long wearing foundation. I tended to remove and reapply if I was going out in the evening after a full day of activities. It's perfect for everyday wear, but also a favourite for special occasions because of how beautifully it photographs. It doesn't cling to dry patches, or accentuate dry skin. Only con about this foundation is it's coverage, as you need about 4 pumps to obtain buildable medium-full coverage. But overall, I can see why it's an award winning foundation!
For you oily gals, I would potentially give this one a miss, or perhaps test a sample first, as I'm not sure how this will perform for you. If you're of dry to normal skin, and are looking for a new foundation for a special occasion, or even everyday wear, I highly recommend giving this one a try. For international beauties, this is available from Sephora US here for $43 USD. For my Australian's you can get 15 of the shades from Sephora Aus here for $65 AUD, or alternatively PM Studio also stocks all 40 shades for $67 AUD.
Have you tried this foundation, how did you like it!?
